Subject: The newly appointed Ambassador of Bangladesh to France presented his credentials to the French President 

The newly appointed Ambassador of Bangladesh to France His Excellency Mr. Kazi Imtiaz Hossain presented his Credentials to the French President Mr. Emmanuel Macron in a formal ceremony at the Elysées Palace, the official residence of the French President on Monday, 18 December 2017. On his arrival at the Elysee Palace, Ambassador-designate Mr. Hossain was given a static guard of honour by a smartly turned out contingent of French Republican Guard. Chief of Protocol of the French Foreign Ministry Mr. Frédéric Billet received the Ambassador, who was accompanied by Mr. Hazrat Ali Khan, Counsellor and Head of Chancery at the Bangladesh Embassy in Paris. From the French side, amongst others, the President’s Diplomatic Adviser for Asia, Chief of Protocol and the President’s diplomatic Counsellor were present at the ceremony. 

Following presentation of the Letter of Credence and Letter of Recall of his Predecessor, the Bangladesh Ambassador had a brief meeting with the French President and conveyed the warm greetings of the Hon’ble President and the  Hon'ble Prime Minister to President Macron. Accepting the appointment of the Ambassador Hossain, President Macron recalled his bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during her recent visit to France for the One Planet Summit held on 12 December 2017 in Paris. The French President noted that he had had fruitful discussions with the Hon’ble Prime Minister not only on climate change issues, but also on matters of security, development and economic cooperation between the two countries. President Macron praised the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina particularly with regard to development and poverty alleviation in the country. President Macron expressed his confidence that economic relations between France and Bangladesh will be further deepened in the days ahead and expressed the hope that both countries can work together in various areas of mutual interest. Before bidding farewell to the newly appointed Bangladesh Ambassador, President Macron requested him to convey his best wishes to the Hon’ble President and the Hon’ble Prime Minister. 

Before taking up his new assignment in Paris, Ambassador Hossain, who is a carrier diplomat, was Bangladesh High Commissioner to Australia with concurrent accreditation to New Zealand and Fiji from 2014. He has also served as Bangladesh Ambassador to Thailand with concurrent accreditation to Cambodia and Permanent Representative to UNESCAP from 2010 to 2014. Ambassador Kazi Imtiaz Hossain is concurrently serving as Permanent Delegate of Bangladesh to UNESCO.
